Or at least closer to stock. It's not good for the hood to close so tightly because of the raised carburetor/air cleaner. I'm getting a lowered air cleaner for the 383 I'm building.

Removing the Edelbrock..

and installing a more standard intake manifold.

The Edelbrock is more suited for the 383. Also, the roller rocker arms are coming off and being replaced with standard rocker arms. The roller arms and tall valve covers will go on the 383, and standard rocker covers will go back on the installed engine.

More photos to follow.

Wow!

BOTH heads had their rear water holes PLUGGED!

Edit: Of course since the intake manifold blocks off these holes, the head holes do tend to plug up with time if coolant changes aren't followed.

I quit. For the nite anyway.

It's not as done as it may appear. Valve clearence has yet to be adjusted. Carb studs/bolts not installed yet and the chrome water pump has yet to be replaced with a standard one. Hopefully this engine will be ready for the local Corvette guru to fine tune Monday.

Today: valves adjusted, valve covers installed, water pump swapped out, carb studs installed. That's it.
