Default Finally got around to.... how long does it take you?

Reference: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ve-covers.html

I bought my vette in 1999. I soon learned that the original valve covers were supposed to be chrome; The covers on the car were painted orange, like in 67. A few years later, in 2003 I finally bought a cheap set of chrome covers, but they didn't have drippers on them. I think a year later I bought a 2nd set that had drippers. I carried these 2 sets of chrome valve covers around with me for 10 and/or 11 years and last week I finally swapped em out. I think they look nice! Still have to go for a test drive and hope they don't leak.

The old orange look:

Hey, those old covers didn't have drippers! Forget about "original", they probably aren't Corvette covers.

The new ones have drippers:

ITS ABOUT TIME!!!!

Still have some stickers to put on the covers and the air cleaner lid.

Hi p,
I'd say the elapsed time is just about right.
You wouldn't want to rush into action on something as important as that!
Regards,
Alan

The first bb Corvette I saw was a 65 396. They had painted valve covers, and since then I always think the painted valve covers look the best.

If you had installed them ten years ago they might not look as good as they do now.
Good planning. :-)

new stickers, and ready to go! Might even leave the hood open at the next cruise. Test drive with no leaks today.

Alan, Thanks for your opinion on painted valve covers. As soon as I find some original painted ones I am going to replace the aftermarket chrome ones on my "72 BB.
