Started to clean off the old paint on the bottom of my '73 frame today and came across some numbers I'm curious about. Where would these have been etched in and what do they mean?

Seriously, I did a quick search but didn't come up with anything that took me right to your answer. Somebody here knows because I've seen it posted before. I can't remember if it was an assembly line sequence related number, a number associated with the vehicle vin or what. Someone will respond with the correct info.

That number was underneath the paint. Frames were already painted when they arrived in St. Louis.
