Nascar water pump guru Howard Stewart did a couple of aluminum Mckay pumps for me some time ago, his company got sold but I think if you google him you might find him

Hi 63v427,
Did Gould do a fuel pump for you?
I'm curious if they can do the 'crimped' style fuel pump?
Thanks!
Regards,
Alan

like dogsgm74, I rebuild my original water pump myself with a rebuild kit. I don't think a 10 ton press would do it. I used a 20 ton press and found when pressing the impeller on, the movement was jerky. There is no stops when pressing this on so it's position needs to be measured.
What happens is that the structure of the press builds up a spring preload before the impeller moves on the shaft by jumping. Luckily, the jump was exactly what I needed. I could have used at least a 30 ton press.
The rest of the rebuild was easy.

Talked with Arthur Gould today, yes they will rebuild your c-2 or c-3 water pump for $80. They are currently working on the tooling to uncrimp and crimp the stock AC fuel pumps. They hope to be up and running in a few months.

Burning Brakes
Just went out and looked at the press I used, its a old but very well built 40 ton press. No wonder it seemed so easy, might have a hard time with a cheapie press.

Basically satisfied, but a month after installation I had to remove it to replace the rear gasket as it was leaking. never saw one of those leak!
Check it over before reinstalling it

Drifting
I just had my fuel pump rebuilt it was putting out about 12 psi to a qjet. it now puts out a steady 5 psi. I took it to Scott at the Corvette Shop in Costa Mesa CA If you didn't already know it had been rebuilt, you'd never know by looking at it.

Hi iar,
And this was a 'crimped' pump not a 'screw' type?

Hi imr,
Well that's certainly the crimped type.
This is the first solid lead I have for rebuilding the crimped type!
Thanks very much!
