1975 Corvette C3 Frankenstein From Death Race 2000
Some car movies where sure wacky back then, they are still wacky but in the 70's it was at another level.
check out the fake motor used in the car.
and here is the real motor.
From the article:
It features an unusual combination of a Volkswagen chassis, Corvair air-cooled, dual carburetor engine with a 3-speed manual transmission. The supercharged V8 in the back is faux, while the actual motor is under the bonnet as it would be in a standard Corvette. A Corvette-style body riding on custom wheels and BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires complete this peculiar scenario.

Burning Brakes
Wow...that's one of those goofy 'so bad I gotta watch it' flicks. Thanks for the link...I have to wonder why they did not just leave the SBC under the hood?

The car was NOT a corvette is was a dune buggy called a
Shala-Vette also known as Shala Vet
Built by legendary automobile designer and custom car builder Dick Dean,
They cut the vw pan shorter for these...
The car never had the fake junk sticking out the back in the movie...
The fake blower was added after the car ended up in an auto museum,
The car had and has a tired corvair 6 lunger that will still pull the front wheel off the ground....or would.

Burning Brakes
Guys, that is a dune buggy. The Corvair engine is a rear mounted air cooled 6 cylinder. The body may have some styling cues from a C3, or even a few parts bonded on.

that death race 2000 was my favorite movie, the best part was the man hole scene.Where the 3 guys are standing in front of man hole and they are egging on the car comming toward them, well the 2 guys jump in the man hole, while the other waits a little longer, well the 2 buddies close the lid on the man hole and the dude tries to jump in the hole and, well damm he gets splattered, I was laffing so freakin hard when that happened, then his buddies lift the lid to see there budy on the ground, and guess what another car comes from behind and hits the lid, splat, even funnier.what a great movie.
