The donor car for this interior was totaled in 1977, it was four years old.
Thanks to the care and attention of a nice man in California he carefully took it apart and wrapped the parts up and put them away. That was 1978. 37 years later, and quite by mistake, his wife saw my posting looking for a tilt/tele steering wheel for my project car and she spoke to her husband and asked if he wanted to sell the one they had. He said sure, and she reached out to me. After a lot of discussion I learned they had nearly the complete interior that I needed for my 1972 project. It took time, money, patience, and care but we got them from Los Angeles to Pennsylvania in good shape. They are now wrapped and safely awaiting that phase of my restoration.
There have to be more parts out there, just has to be, but getting this lucky again won't happen in my lifetime I fear.

internet and serendipity
Saw the pictures of our interior parts and read what you wrote about it and we feel kinda giddy about the whole experience. We are as amazed as you are David how it all came to be! Thanks to the internet and serendipity we found each other, and our long-stored parts will be appreciatively back in a corvette. We are delighted. We look forward to following your journey with the car, and are honored and humbled to have been a small part of it. Thank you for the kind words and for sharing the adventure.

Latest purchase to be used with the 72 Road Race Replica is this body storage and rotisserie platform for working under and over the body.
I have not taken delivery of it yet but I look forward to putting the 72 road racer and my 72 Ontario orange coupe on this and using the full capability it offers.
The car sitting upon it in this picture is not mine Ontario orange car, and isn't it fascinating the OP did have that same car, but I will post them when I have it and have my car mounted upon it.
Stay tuned...

I think that in your retirement, you are sourcing all the parts and tools to open your own restoration shop. A real dream come true for many of us, continued success/enjoyment my friend.

BF Goodrich Radial T/A Tires, 295/50 R15 are on national backorder at this time with an unknown production start date.
This impacts both of my projects if they do not produce the tires in the next 90 days. Going to have to keep my eyes open on this one.
Hooker Headers and Side Pipes, in black, have been ordered for the car as well now and will be delivered in a week or so.
Have not yet ordered the radiator and spal fans, but I will soon.
Frame is at the powder coater now, will be back soon.
Time to organize the parts I have and stage them for the winter build.
Looking forward to building this car.

David: Not sure where you plan to source your fan but I got mine from Dewitts. Most of the lines in my car are braided stainless with AN fittings, including the smaller radiator lines.
Dewitts will put a bung in the radiator for the temperature sensor that goes with the Spal fan setup:
They will also weld in a bung for the expansion tank line. No extra charge for the AN-6 instead of a slip-on hose bung.
The expansion tank bung is also a slip-on but can easily be converted to AN with a tubing adapter fitting from Earls (no plan to do the overflow tube. )

While I had a brief break in working on the 72 coupe yesterday I used the time to work on the 72 racer.
You remember I had these wheels restored and are ready for service.
Yesterday these Mickey Thompson 295/50/15 radials showed up at my door and will be mounted on Saturday to the above wheels for service on the road racer.
Then I got busy before the sun set (barely beat it) and removed the doors from the racer. These are power window doors and I want to use manual doors so these are off now and will be traveling with me to North Carolina to their new home next week.
Replacing these doors will be a nice set of 72 doors that I will have my auto body painter strip, prime, fit, and paint for the road race replica car.
I did manage to stage all the parts I have for the racer chassis in anticipation of that coming home on the 15th powder coated, repaired, and ready for service.
So while it is not large progress it is progress and when the frame comes home, well, expect things to begin to happen much more rapidly.
I hope all of you are having fun and preparing for your winter projects. My winter will be busy but thankfully all will be ready to seal up the garage from the weather for this work.
Thanks for following along.

A quick update on the frame status for the 72 racer can be found on my 72 barn find update. I didn't want to write it more than once so here is a quick update for you. Cheers.
