Default battery cable length? routing

Likey more directed at modders than stock fans,
I need to buy new pos battery cable, so how long is the run from battery to starter?
Also have any of you modders found a routing you like better than stock?
Thanks,
Cheers,
Bats.

I installed a disconnect switch under the center door This allows a short positive cable. with easy power on and off.

I ran two 1/0 inside the car- One to the starter and one to the alt. I made my own cables and covered them w/ sheathing.

Also ran pos & neg 4 gu wire to some terminal posts to run my other stuff.

When w/ 2 6V batteries in the storage compartment to increase usable space.

And just in case I ever need to jump start- I used a BMW post/cable under the hood to easily hook up the jumper cables and get the power where it's needed - to the starter.

69vett I like that kill switch mount...I have a flaming rivers switch I scored near free a while back I planned to run and that does look like a great place for it.

Richard that is pretty darn sweet,
Do you have a picture of that 1/0 on the alt?
Do you believe tinned cable is worth the extra $$$?

Here's the pic of the alt- mounted down low- a custom Nippon Denso off a early 90's Geo Storm w/ AC!!! The trigger /ignition wires are sleeved in some left over Russel AN -6 nylon braided hose.

My cable is about 7ft-how I have run it. As the positive terminal is on the pass side connected to one of the 6v Optimas. Cable is "Streetwire" by Esoteric Audio from when I was in the 12Volt business- really flexible fine strand.

As far as tinned- Marine guys like it- but w/ the Vette the battery is protected pretty well AND if running a gel battery should be just fine w/o it.

I looked at three different Vette forums to find the cable length ........I didn't find any cable length----but I did find "cable length" threads with lots of opinions which had very little to do with the original post.

I really appreciate the members of this forum who give precise answers and sound advice(with pics)!

Thanks Bats and Members.......now I know how to place my battery cut-off switch that's been on the pegboard for a year!

Yeah peterbuilt gave us that but I do love the way 69vett mounted his kill switch and richards coolness but I am way curious how many amps that lil geo alt puts out?

I guess I am still gonna run my jumper lugs out to the rear,

I also see that all solid copper cable 1/0 on ebay is not the same the prices are all over the place,

Hey Bats-

Originally the alt was rated at 75A- I had it gone through and upgraded- and now its just under 130A. If you need anymore power- watch the video!

I would get some stuff from a local car stereo store- it's hit or miss on eBay- some of the cable out there won't bend- some will bend and break.

I used 9 feet length of #2 welding cable to make my own cable,
cut off about 12" off left over.
The battery switch disconnect has a removable handle, to make it a little bit more secure.
the middle storage door seemed to be the perfect location for the switch location.
