Default 72 corvette fiberglass repair costs?

Cracked quarter panel driver side

Have the pieces that go here

Cracked quarter panel passenger side
What would the costs be to get these pieces of fiber glass repaired?

Hard to say... shop labor prices vary from area to area & shop to shop. But you`ll need to find somebody that specializes in fiberglass, and knows what they`re doing, to get it done right. The bumpers need to come off, the marker lights need to come out to make the repair... then there`s paint obviously.

You can do it. It's really not that bad..especially if you have the pieces. Just make sure you wear gloves, pants and a long sleeve shirt. Give it a try. Im not an expert and here is an example of what I did..

It really is simple. Ecklers has a video showing how it's done, I believe.

Yeah I'm considering haha. My dad used to do body and paint while he was in the Navy so he can probably lend a hand on putting it back together.

The more you do yourself the better you will feel when your vette is done. It really is a good feeling. There will be times when you feel like it will never get done...just look at pictures of completed 72's and you will get motivated. Keep up the good work!

I've done a lot of fiberglass repairs and I still wouldn't describe it as simple , especially for someone that has no experience. Not to mention that it is an itchy miserable job and a health risk if you don't take all precautions. I would advise him to save up the money and have a professional do it.

It's not a Vette but here is a short "How to...." post about fixing a fiberglass kart racing body....I have fixed a ton of kart bodies over the years but I'm not sure I would tackle it on my Vette.

Looks intimidating before you get into it. There are a couple of fiberglass repair How To books. Eckler's had one, but it might be out of print. The Glas-Ra series is good: http://www.glas-ra.com/rearhl1968thru1982.html

You could do the repair work yourself and save body shop dollars.

Every Christmas we do a thing called "Pay it Forward", where members post extra parts for free... for other members who may need it. I know it`s a little early, but this book is yours.... free.... if you want it. Just PM me your address, and I`ll drop it into the mail for you!

You don't have to do that haha. Odds are my stepdad will want to get the work done professionally anyways. I'm not the one worrying about the body damage. My stepdad is. (He's a bit picky on what I have) I'm 16 I'll drive it like it is. If he wants to pitch in on body work and a paint job that's totally up to him. Thank you for the offer though. You're one of people that gave me inspiration to get the Car to begin with. So thank you for that aswell

I have a few areas do do on my Vette also. I started by trying the repairs in areas that are not noticeable. I had to fabricate a battery mounting tray and figured if I screwed it up I can just make another one. It came out OK, now I have a little more experience.

If you screw up bad just grind it out and try again.
