Default Fuel Issue? Please help

Hello All,

I finally bought my dream car! 75 vette! She has her issues but is a running/driving project.

I'm new to the mechanic side of things but want to work on this car myself as much as possible. Hoping I can get some advice and help here.

I have an acceleration problem with my Vette. If I accelerate gradually on the gas pedal the car will go as fast as you want it to go. If you give the gas pedal a good push to accelerate fast, getting on the freeway, etc it will accelerate to about 60-65 and then sputter and not go any faster. But if you let off the gas and gradually accelerate it will start accelerating as fast as you want it to go.

Any advice what this could be?

Fuel filter could be clogging up inside the carburetor, or it could be the fuel sock on the sending unit inside the gas tank. That's two easy things to check out before digging deeper.

I agree, I just picked up a 68 and my fuel tank was full of orange crap and sediment which kept filling up the fuel filters

Definitely a fuel problem. Try the easy things first, ie filter, hose on suction side of fuel pump, fuel pump itself, carb float level or the pickup sock in the tank.
