C-3 Auto shifter console
I'm thinking of installing a manual shifter boot on my automatic shift console. Has anyone tried this? Reason why, the plastic slide plates wear out and stick at times. Had mine apart yesterday. All it will take is to drill out the 6 rivets to remove the metal shifter plate and the shifter boot will fit between the mounting points. Just don't know if I will have the travel distance with the boot going from park to drive or even lower.

I've already tested an older console that was sitting around and it will work after drilling out the 6 rivets and removing the metal shift plate. I have a leather shifter boot from ZIP that will work and researching others. See link below.

Did this about 35 years ago, used a Bridgeport at work.
The shift boot is a GM unit, i would say a stick/75, i might have the part number, will look for it.
