I was cordial in the message I sent him. I stated there was no documentation that this was a Bill Mitchell car and instead of him showing proof of documentation or even a picture of Bill Mitchell with the car he says I don't know what I'm talking about and that if I contact him again he will report me to eBay....It seems like I wasn't the first person who sent him a message about the lack of documentation. Just chalk it up to one of the many scams on eBay.

Somehow or other, I don't connect a Bill Mitchell car with Boyds wheels.....

When I wrote to the seller asking about evidence of the connection between this car and Bill Mitchell his response was:

[Removed due to legal request]

I don't think I'd invest a quarter million on that guarantee.

One other "clue"......Bill Mitchell's cars had either Goodyear or Firestone tires, not BFGs.......

If the guy could prove anything he'd have it at an auction house with lots of promotion. I have an '81 that has just as much Bill Mitchell influence as this one does. I have just as much proof as this guy does too!!!

PS: If there was any legitimate proof ........the magazine world would be doing cover photos and articles on the "Lost Mitchell Vette"

You know, come to think of it - I think Bill Mitchell personally built my '70! Yeah - That's it!

Not a fan of the car really, but whoever painted that has some serious skills.

The car in question was undoubtedly built by Eckler's back in the day. They were working with John Greenwood to produce his C3 body kits. This is the Turbo GT kit, which was the most popular body kit made for the C3. The twin turbo hood and recessed headlights were Eckler's innovations (Greenwood's original turbo hood had a single NACA duct - Ekler's added the second one).
Yes, this car has appeared over the years in various magazines and probably even one or two "generic" Corvette books that touched on the Kustom Kraze of the '70-'80s. Bill Mitchell had nothing to do with this car. The seller would've been closer to the truth if he said Zora had a part in this car, as Zora was involved with Greenwood's racing efforts, and went on to lend credence to the ACI built Duntov Turbo of 1980.
As far as value goes, this car is just a custom 1980 Corvette, albeit built by one of the top fiberglass manufacturers of the day. Value? Maybe $25K-ish tops. The #1 Greenwood Turbo GT (of 3 built) sold for $26K last year, just to put this in perspective.

Sounds like 'brotherlykindness' is a bit thin skinned. Did he not expect to get blowback from Corvette community, given it's size and scope?

No offers yet...

I agree and he probably got confused on who Zora was and Bill Mitchell were... Yea, yea, that's the ticket.

The paint quality is amazing and was probably done a long time ago.

With that being said, the seller would be lucky to get anywhere near 40k for the car. It's a decent greenwood. It might look better with some big wide Torque thrusts.
