Default Rear end and transmission numbers

My friend looked at a '76 Corvette and the numbers on the rear end
are: 2AM3569W.
The transmission numbers are: WE1252.
I don't think they are original to the car. What does this decode to?
Thanks

The transmission is Borg Warner, May 12th, 75, 2nd shift. Along side that number there might be a partial vin.

How can I tell if it's a 2.20 or a 2.54?
Thanks

First off BW's never had those gears and secondly they start at 2:43 and go to 3:42 ratio's. Can't really tell unless the tranny is pulled and count the rings on the input shaft. No Muncie's in '75. GM started using BW ST-10's from then on forward up until '82. I once had an '82 all aluminum (6 ring) 3:42 gear box with mounting points for the bar that ran from the tranny to the diff. What designation gear box is it- 902, 903, or 904?

The last 3 numbers on the passenger side of the main case is 903.

Here is a link that might help: http://www.pontiacpower.org/BW.htm

Perhaps someone with an early C3 can chime in on the rear end and how they are stamped but a guess would be 2nd shift, AM= 3:36, 35th day of 1969, at the Warren Plant?

The rear end date is March 5, 1969. They didnt use the Julian dating on the rears. The W is for the Warren plant.
