Default Whats keeping you from enjoying your vette

I took about 7 days off and with weekends and the holiday coming up I have 11 days to tile the kitchen/ bathroom and work on the garage. Plenty of evenings to enjoy my girl. Couple of cruise and car shows planned.

WRONG AGAIN!!!!!!!

So the house is over 250 years old and my Dad has fixed most everythng. Well, we discovered the doorway between the kitchen and bath has sagged 2 inches over the last 50 years. So we investigate that, find a rotten timber in the basement, 3 days into it we get that jacked up to within an inch of level. So that takes up time. Still shiming the floor with plywood and pouring self leveler for another day. 6 days in and don't have the hardiboard down. Day 7 was hardiboard and today we pull the toilet to hardi board under it. Boom, kick in the head. Floors rotten. Fix that quickly( only quick repair). Finally day 8 the tile is going down. Now my brother is calling and is desperate for help to get his house squared away for his re-appraisal.

I guess no rides for now.

Fun ,fun ,fun.

Door gunner, you are my hero. In light of all the stuff you have had thrown at you since last fall, im glad you can still have a sense of humor. Good luck with the ptsd and my prayers are with your MIL.

I saw you were looking at your car the other day. Remember what you said last year, just an hour a day, even if its just walking out to hug your vette. I give mine a good pat everyday so she won't miss me or run off with toyota.

simpatico

wow...over 250 and I thought ours built around 1914 was old, tell me some history,
I lived in the same Orlando house over 45 years and we moved to this eustis place,
It was built by a family that helped found Eustis and in the 40's tried to be a B&B

I have in the last 6 months learned AC wiring and how to install a sub panel, run designated wiring, rewire , replace **** and tube, etc ad nauseam/

The lady we bought it from got it in 96 to fix and flip, lots of work started, new roof and lots of rotten wood replaced new copper pipes almost everywhere, some new wiring ( not enough lol ) and the cool part due to lots of settlings she had the foundation reinforced, 4 columns of cinder bricks in the basement yeah, a 2000sf basement in fl, but she divorced in 97 all work stopped, one upstairs backroom defunct due to no working pipes.
and I have an upstairs bath that the hole in your floor looked hauntingly familiar to your picture , but it has a high tank toilet and new copper pipes so I should have it at least partly working in the next few days.

Between the house repairs and health I haven't messed with the 69 much at all bought a nice 87 fiero gt and I think drove it once in 2 months, havent taken the trike out in about a month,

I say stuff like this to my buddy up in Ithaca and his reply is welcome to home ownership...they just bought a place up there,

But yeah I was grinding hard on the 69 last night wanting to get her running driving doesn't even have to look too good, but then I wanna get that bathroom working

Ya, you need a bathroom everyday. Its a good idea to tackle that first.

My folks house has been in the family for 4 generations I think or more. The main house was brought down from Maine by my great great grandfather by boat and barge by way of the ocean, then barged up the Mermac River. Then dragged by oxen to where it sits now. That was 1820-1827. We have a pick of it from 1845 I believe on the wall. I'll take apic of it tomorrow. Then the back half was added on somtime between 1827 and 1845. It was a carriage shed before becoming a mudroom and bathroom.

The family owned a granite quarry back in the day and had money!!!! Not so much now. I moved back to town to keep an eye on my folks and help them out. So I stay with them now. I remember a tree I played in as a kid that had to come down. It was in front of the house. My mom says her greatuncle planted it. It was over 100 when they cut it about 20 years ago.

HAHAHA-no time for the Vette...I'm getting married in two weeks...I'll trade you for the floor /plumbing repairs!!! My house is just a baby as it was originally built in 1954...

Batts-

The galvanized pipe- absolutely worth nothing- as scrap yards don't even want it!!!

This was my favorite surprise when I redid my house-

The previous owner had tapped the power line BEFORE the meter- and was using un-billed power to run the AC compressors!!!

if you look in there you can see I got lucky on that one the new copper supply lines are there, the larger galv pipe is sink drain runs to iron pipe, but I will likely do as they did with the tub drain and use cpvc to the iron drain, now the second up stairs br has not been touched galv supply no longer hooked up and galv to iron drain and likely hasn't worked since 97 or before....
I will likely cpvc all of that.

that is pretty darn cool...not right, I do not support it but funny cool....the one sub panel I replaced had the old push breakers 15 amp with 14 amp **** tube wiring, but as people added stuff over the years I would find 12 ga spliced into the 14 and some of that 50's flex conduit wire spliced in, some of the push breakers had fried off....of course no ground and seems they didn't care which lead was hot or which was common so some of the old push button light switches switch the hot some switch the common....at some point someone added two air conditioning systems one up one lower neither are in working order now...so we use window and portable units for now and in that I wanted designated 115 lines to each,

Its been weeks since Ive taken my car out. My fuel injection unit arrived today so thats a project on the to do list. I have anew tanks inc unit too. I must remodel my closet for my girl friend, her house just went under contract, so she will be moving in soon. Priorities!
But the main thing keeping me from the vette is my other passion. Motorcycles, I recently picked up another one and took a little ride last weekend, toured the high Seirras in CA. Its good to have choices.

I love old houses - Mum's was built about 1750, it was for one of the founders of one of the first Universalist Churches in America. Nothing in the house was square, plumb or level.

But this is what's keeping me from enjoying The Plastic Pig.

It's been waiting on a starter motor... Despite what you see in this photo, there is now no interior in the car as they need to test the windows. Can't test the windows without a running engine. Can't get a running engine without a working starter. It finally did come, but its appearance was considerably less than acceptable.
