$51.7K ???
It looks pretty ordinary to me, certainly not restored any time recently. Boot for wiper door linkage missing, no smog decal, painted over vacuum relay, not sure what to make of the washer pump. A friend attended that auction, passed along a few more photos of the engine bay. No PB, no AC, probably no PS. No mention of matching numbers which struck me as strange, that's an item which most sellers are certain to include in the description. From what I see, I'd say it looks more like a $30K car.
Am I underestimating value here or may this be TV auction effect?

Those look like 15 x 7 wheels to me as well. Seller did really really well especially if non matching drivetrain. Watched a bit of the auction last night. Prices on some others cars seemed fair to me. But I have been to BJ in Scottsdale. What I noticed is that many cars have the undercarriage detailed, and it must be a contractor used by BJ, the same techniques are used on many of the cars I seen. So they look good on TV. In real life. Look close and beware.

Hi BB,
I agree, the exterior and interior look nice in the photos but the engine compartment is a bit of a disappointment.
But then I re-read…. and see only the inside and outside are described as "immaculate", so I guess that lets the engine compartment take a pass.
D72, I saw those 67 trim rings too!
Regards,
Alan

Just checked completed listings on eBay and this 70 LS5 had one bid for 30k on auction that ended May 28. There were pics of engine pad and there was no stamp on pad.Dontknow how to post the pics but maybe someone can. REALLY Great day to be a 70 LS5 owner.

When I search eBay listings, current and recently expired, I see cars which look as nice as this one if not even better selling for far less. Some never met reserve. Makes me wonder if eBay auctions tend to yield low prices, BJ auctions at the other extreme?

I keep track of prices on the 70-72's,mainly the Big Blocks ,from auctions and private sales,eBay,and prices are all over the place. That 51,700 for that 70 454 is a great number.
