Default 427 Block Casting

I have a 427 block with a 67'date on it and was told it is from a 427 Corvette 400 hp car. The numbers on the deck are T0602IL and 7120685. The casting number ends in 351. It has stock windage tray studs, clutch ball, std bore, and isn't rusted. I was told that there are places that use these blocks for restorations and that there is also a place that can match this engine to the car. The 7120685 is part of the VIN? Anybody know about this?

'66, '67, and '68 427/390 4 speed cars. There should be a 1S in front of the vin on the block. Hope this helps......

The Black Book says the 3904351 block was used in 67. Suffix code IL indicates a 390hp, standard transmission car. 7120685 is likely to be part of the VIN derivative. The 20685th 67 Corvette assembled. June 67. Jives with an engine assembly date of June 2.

I am pretty sure you are incorrect.

1966 starts with just a 6 then the sequential build number. 1967 starts with 7 then the sequential build number. In 1968 it starts with 18S4 then the sequential build number. In 1969 it starts 19S7.

This is regardless of wether its a 4sp or automatic, big or small block.

The block would have been cast before it was assembled on 0602.
