New Edelbrock Carb Install, Vacuum Problem??
Hey guys .....well yes I installed a edelbrock 1406 and performer intake and just read hear that it will make no performance difference and I may lose HP from my original setup though the performance shop said it would help. But anyways I have it on and on the backside where my brake booster use to connect to the carb the edelbrock has the same hook up but a smaller size is there a adapter I can get or what did you guys do.
P.S. the shop where I got my carb said that a 600cfm carb would easily feed a 300hp engine....is this true and on a stock L48 engine will I be OK. I was hoping for better performance.
Thanks

Why didn't you ask the question before you bought?
What intake did you buy? The 2701 will definitely out perform the stock.
The carb you bought will probable equal what you took out. Why not a 750 cfm carb?
No big deal, you can make them both work, and pick up hp at the same time, especially if your carb was trashed........
Read the carb book closely and learn about the tweaks you can make to it to fit your application.

No the intake I got was 2101 not the EPS intake and when I was buying a carb the guy told me that 750cfm might be to much for my stock L48 engine and that even if I get a 600cfm it would feed a 300hp motor. So I would be better off getting that one.

Straight from the Edelbrock website.....
Performer EPS (idle-5500 rpm)
2701
Performer EPS
Designed for 1986 and earlier 262-400 cubic-inch Chevys, the Performer EPS dual-plane manifold is optimized to deliver superior performance with
Edelbrock square-bore Performer Series or Thunder Series AVS carburetors. This small-block Chevy manifold has a runner design that’s “tuned” for peak torque around 3500 rpm on a 350-inch engine and it’s ideal for power from off-idle to 5500 rpm. Dyno tests showed gains of 5 hp and 9 ft/lbs of torque over the Edelbrock Performer manifold #2101 on a 350 Chevy. From 3000 to 4500 rpm, the increases averaged 5+ ft/lbs. of torque for more performance where you need it most. Look for the Performer EPS to “up the standards” in dual-plane intake manifold design. Match with a dependable Edelbrock square-bore carburetor for maximum performance gains. Also available with new PermaStar finish for a look you’ve got to see to believe.

You will be fine with the setup, but yes, it could have been better. We can always do better, but dollar restraints stop most of us.......
You could have spent a few more bucks and put on the 750 carb, or the 2701 intake (which by the way is only 20 bucks more), but what the heck, it was only 5 hp.....Now the carb is a different story.....and from what I have read, I believe your setup could handle the bigger carb.
