Default L-82 Cam Specs

Just curious, what's the cam specs on a stock '78 L-82? Or better yet what cam replacement would be a good choice. Stock or tad higher. This is just a cruzer...

Off the top of my head I think the lift is .450 IN/.460 EXH and duration@.050 is 222.

If you check Crane or Compa cams one of them makes a blueprint of this(same as 69-70 350 HP cam).

A modern design would probably work better though.

Since I have an L82, I kept the original cam. But if I had an L48 (or similar), I'd go with a more modern cam as a replacement.

The L82 cam has MORE duration than the L79 350HP 327 cam. I would go with a more modern grind with a slightly bigger exhaust duration than the L82 cam. You need to give more specs on your Vette, is it an Auto? or 4 speed? Cruising around town or on the highway?

Ah. I see you have an L82. Leave the cam. Swap the heads. I went with the Dart Iron Eagles (sold as "Summit" heads) with 67cc chambers and 165cc runners. 650 bucks a pair.

It will all depend on the specs to which you rebuild your engine. A lot of good things have been said about the Voodoo cams -- contact Lunati for a suggested cam once you have your rebuild specced out
