Default how hot and vacuum advance?

Will a motor run warmer with the vacuum advance connected to a ported (no vacuum during idle) or none ported (direct to intake vacuum). I'm now attached to a port on the on the carb with no vacuum advance during idle and wonder if it would run cooler with some vacuum advance during idle.

It will run cooler with the vacuum advance on a direct manifold vacuum source: More timing advance will run the engine cooler. The ported source will run it hotter and reduce emissions.

Okay, thank you Lars... I'll move it to the manifild source.

PS... I have the timing set to your specs found on the forum... 36 without vacuum (coming in a 2800)... and 18 at idle. With vacuum grand total of 52. Runs great. Just a little warm and hopefully the manifold source will help.
