anyone bought this one? experiences?

My plan is an engine with following option: 950cfm carb, have already new MSD distributor at home, Merlin III, L19 bolts, maybe Crane Severe Duty Hippo Lifters (Hi Pressure Oiling), SFI Harmonic Balancer, SFI Flex Plate, Powermaster Hi-Torque Mini Starter.

A friend of mine has had one in his chevelle for a couple of years. His has a King Demon carb on it. So far it has been a strong running trouble free motor.

I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shafiroff has been building engines for drag cars for years. I've seen a number of them in cars at the strip. Must be pretty good.

The black 69 on the cover of Vette has one..... the owner appears to be happy with it and it's 700 HP.

Here is ours. The Shafiroff team is GREAT! We have had nothing but the best service- when we ordered our engine & with questions etc. Would definitely buy another. We have the aluminum block 540 ci - 786 hp. It's in our 1968 vette.
here is a small video of car.

DOIT,
That is extremely nice. Lots of attention to detail. I noticed several engine compartment mods that I have had to do as well. I like the radiator setup. Where did you get the air cleaner? I saw one similar at a place called Spinners I think.

I have no personal experience w/ Shafiroff, but he has a good reputation. I think his web page has a slight error as it is Crower, not Crane, that markets Severe Duty solid roller lifters w/ HIPPO option. These Crower lifters are very good (I run them in mine). Although the cam and valve spring specs aren't posted, you may also want to consider running a stud girdle.

540" engines are a lot of fun!

Thanks everyone, Sorry so long to respond. Troy doesn't do computers so I am trying to help him. He would really like to talk about our vettes. Our email is correctcable@msn.com. We would even consider flying to Texas to watch you guys run. And check out your cars. Outstanding. Here is a link to our photosite on the web. Heather Le Donne

Wow. Lots of planning went into this car. I hope mine turns out as nice.
Wish you guys could have made our Fall Extravaganza last weekend. Was a blast. Maybe you can make the CF CI Vlll next Spring.
