Well, I was kinna bored this beautiful Sunday morning and went out into the garage today and decided to snap a whole bunch of pictures to show everyone how far behind I am. Man, if I only had some cash...



























You know, I had a perfectly running car that I drove everyday and took everywhere. I decided to do some modifications and now look!! :lol: I welcome any comments and suggestions as long as they don't make me feel bad :(

My god man, it looks like you're into one :yesnod: ....I should also note that it looks like a lot of fun! I was kind of bummed when you said that you wouldn't be using the "Dukes of Hazzard" wheels. I like the look of the Victor Intake, what carburetor will you be using with it?

This is the carb i'll be using Bence. It starts out life as a Holley 750 double pumper and then gets the full treatment by AED. They say on their site that they actually flow 100 cfm of air or more over what they list them as. http://www.aedperformance.com/. It has about two running hours on it as I used it a little last year on my old engine. Woke it right up! Felt similar to when one makes a 20-30 hp jump but most of it was probably because the 3310 I had been using was so screwed up that anything would have been better! Seriously though, they do a wondeful job on their carbs. You actually like the Dukes of Hazzard Wheels? I guess they're ok for the nostalgia thing but I bought the 17" wheels to make the car look better. I mounted the slicks on those wheels for fitment purposes only. They weigh a ton!

I got a mess too here at my house.. Keep up the good work..I got two boxes of wiring in my attic. In fact, I have about two of everything in my attic and I have to sort them out as I put this car back together

Seeing that picture of your rolling chassis makes me want to to the same. But I just don't have the cash flow for that. And it's not something i'd want to do half a/s/s/e/d. So it'll have to wait for when I am in the money. Still waiting...

You could still use the factory headlights... isnt that vacuum tube just the reserve tank so that the headlights can be opened/closeed while the engine isnt producing vacuum(aka shut off). So you could still use the headlights with the engine running. At least that is how I thought it worked when I was under there last... lets see that would be last weekend :smash: :smash: :lol:

I'm pretty sure that's where the vacuum comes from to lift and lower the lights. To my understanding there is a canister of some sort somewhere below the brake booster. I had vacuum problems in my 79 and any time I wanted to turn the headlights on i'd have to pop the hood and disconnect the proper hose from that big tube and either suck or blow (mind out of the gutter). I have some thinking to do about this...

There were some models that had the vacuum reserve canister under the brake booster... In looking at my car though, that tube you speak of in the front is used as the reserve canister. If your 79 had a leak before or in that tube, then yes, you would have to do as you said because no vacuum would get there. But if you take those 3 hoses off there and connect them with a T, the headlights would still work with the engine running if they worked beforehand.

Hmmm, interesting. Now that I think of it your right. But what was that little pull switch/lever under the steering colomn in my 79? I know it had something to do with vacuum and the headlights. Wasn't it used to operate the lights with the engine off? I think from there another hose went right up to the switch. This is confusing stuff.

ok, that little switch is hooked up in series with the other switch, it is meant just to be able to open the headlight door without turning the bulbs on for cleaning purposes etc...

Stingy, this reminds me of my the 69 Charger my gf's stepdad is rebuilding...
He was just gonna replace the trunk floor.... 6 years later the car has the entire front end off, the engine and trans are out, and there isn't a speck of paint on the body...

It's a good thing we like this sort of project, else we'd all be insane...
