Holley fuel pump vs. Rochester ?
My fuel pump died and after doing a little research, I found that there are 2 fuel pumps sold for a 427; HOLLEY and ROCHESTER.
It (appears) that they pump the same gallons per hour but the Holley has more pressure (is this correct) ?
I'm not worried about looking correct, just performing correct.
I have a 68 427/390 (Originally came with Rochester Q-jet but someone before me replaced it with a 650 Holley - Very bad modification in my opinion and I have already acquired a 6-pack setup and will be changing to it next week.
I have read about issues concerning return vapor lines if going with ROchester....So any suggestions on what Fuel Pump to go with ?
SHould I go stock (Rochester) or switch to HOlley and block off the vapor line ?
Thanks
Mike

The original setup was the Qjet cars had a return line and the tripower (Holley) cars did not have a fuel return line. It was never 100% clear to me why the Qjet needed a fuel return line but 3X2 Holleys did not.
I think the 4bbl Holley on the L-88 did not have a fuel return line either.
So if you are going with a tripower I would say dispense with the fuel return line like the original cars.
Also, for 1968 and 1969 none of the fuel pumps had a fuel return line. The fuel return line came off the fuel filter.
I think it was 1970 that they put the fuel return line at the fuel pump.

Solid lifter engines did not have a return line as factory equipped only hydraulic cam engines did and normally with air conditioning.
The OEM pumps were AC and I never heard of a Rochester pump
