LS6 intake and stock hood
I meant to post these earlier but with the motor issues i was having I forgot.
anyway. here is a pic of the clearance gained by using a LS6 intake on a LS5 engine.
yeah the intake is rectangular port onto oval port heads but as long as you use rectangular port intake gaskets to make sure it is sealed off I havent found anything after researching the entire net that on a street engine the mismatch will cause a problem
(god thats bad grammar but i am not retyping it)
the cleaner base is a LT1 drop base.
3 inch air cleaner
moroso low profile top
as you can see there is plenty of room to clear the stock BB hood.
almost an entire inch on all four points on the cleaner.
with that much i could probably do a 3/4 inch spacer easy.
overall pic
front of cleaner
back of cleaner

I had a 1/2 inch spacer on that manifold and a 3" aircleaner with stock 1970 hood. But there are better manifolds out there. As you have an oval port motor find an old discontinued Holley Street Dominator single plane. I fitted runner extensions on mine, I still had room for a 1/2" spacer under the stock hood and it had heaps more midrange and top end over the low rise LS6 manifold.

LS6 intakes are a dime a dozen.
plus if i wanted a single plane i would have stuck with the torker II that was originally on it.

Which probably explains why time and time on this site it is said that you either have to use the torker II, LS6 or get a L88 hood.

we went down the 454-O route before where you tried to sell it then too.
