There is a C2 guy that advanced the cam 4* and went from 20 to 22 mpg! then he said he added another 4* and his cruise went up to 24!
So i was thinking 4 is easy but another 4 is gong to take some new parts.
So if 1 tooth is ~16, one could advance it 1 tooth, but use the 4* retard to get +12 without any new parts. Since you have been advancing cams i thought you might find the idea of 12* interesting, perhaps as a future experiment!

I am following this with great interest as I just installed the lt4 hotcam in my '91 L98, 4* advanced, 1.5int.X1.6ex. rockers. The vacuum is 15"@ idle, 19"@ part throttle in park. The car runs very well with a tpis level IV chip, modified TPI induction and all the bolt ons.

Bee Jay, is it possible to advance the LT4 hot cam 4* advanced on a C4 LT1? If so, what advantage is it?
I had my '94 LT1 w/ LT4 hot cam and 1.6:1 rockers emissions inspected today here in Texas, it passed with flying colors. The PCM was tuned by Pcmforless.
I sure like the sound of the cam with the CC chambered H pipe exhaust, shorty headers w/ original cats, and it sure likes the cold weather we're having. Soundoff time for sure.

Did u use the 3 way crank gear, +4*?
According to famous engine builder Joe Sherman, it is really +8*.

You can advance or retard any camshaft with an aftermarket timing chain and sprocket set. Just use the advanced keyway and marks. Advancing the cam is supposed to move the powerband lower in the rpm range. I don't use my engine at 6500 rpm......... much, but I use off idle to 2500 rpm cruise a lot.

Its another website. The forum over there is really good on technical info where you can actually believe most of whats posted. Its populated largely by actual machinists, engine builders, and head porters/designers. Some of these guys you will likely recognize their names from magazine articles. Its one of my favorite reads. http://www.speedtalk.com
