so get this kit:B13454E Eagle STreet Performance assemblies include cast crankshaft, I-Beam rods, hypereutectic Speed Pro pistons, Clevite 77 bearings, and Perfect Circle Rings. Available balanced only. Stock stroke assemblies use press-fit rods and includes pistons and rods pre-assembled. from Jegs. How much hp can this handle? to remember I got a edelbrock perf/rpm. 750holley, msd 6a box, dist, and coil 3. headders and side pipes.

Hi guys I'm new here. Finally I bought my dream car which is turning out to me my nightmare (project car). Its a 1969 stingray convertible, headders and side pipes, composite rear leaf spring, monroe shocks, and brand new whole brake system, followed with a new soft top, new carpet, new wiper motor and new bright lights. I want a daily driver with an attitude, how can I have some "good" power without loosing comfort. shall I go for the 350, or 350 with the jegs stroker kit (850.00), get a 427, or a 454?
The small block will be cheaper to build and easier to find parts and probably the best engine for a daily driver.
On the other hand if you believe "too much is never enough" there is the big block option, but prepare to to spend the money with this selection.

(am I supposed to press quote or reply?)
well I want quick acceleration and response, I want to smoke couple of cars on the street on the idle 40-80 mph range, about money I been told that local shops will build a 383 for 2500-3k. so whats a good option, 350-383-427?
OH, did I forgot to mention I want to lower my car for looks?

Around here, a well built 383, from a local reputable shop, will cost a minimum $6-7K, all said and done. I asked... Cant imagine what you would get for $2500...

I don't know if you will get aluminum heads, forged internals, and the rest of those goodies for that 2-$3K. A big block is nice, but can weigh you down some. Unless you put down good power on the big block, I would say you're better off with a 383 stroker. This way you'll have less weight and more power, depending on how it's built. You can get a good amount of power from a 383, you'll just need to spend some $$$.

Ok I'll go with this kit: All Eagle STreet Performance assemblies include our cast crankshaft, out I-Beam rods, hypereutectic Speed Pro pistons, Clevite 77 bearings, and Perfect Circle Rings. Available balanced only. Stock stroke assemblies use press-fit rods and includes pistons and rods pre-assembled. It sells at jegs for 827.00 part is Eagle #356-B13454E "yey-ney" or anything better you can think of.

I got edelbrock performer rpm dual plane, 750holley, msd dist, msd blaster 3, msd 6, headders and side pipes. I am thinking on getting the kit from jegs above mentioned edelbrock cams or lunati, milodoon oil pump, edelbrock fuel pump, light weight flex plate. But no money for heads, I'm on a budget build for the engine trying to use stock heads for some time. Sorry", I'm on a E5 pay check and with a big family counting mother.

Drifting
The big thing to remember is with your SBC you can build from there and not need all the other parts. By this I mean to move to a BBC you need all the suspension upgrades for the weight, brackets for externals, possibly cooling and so forth. This stuff is considerable $$. For a daily driver, I 'd stick with the 350 and accumulate the $$ for a built up one.

If you're staying with a 350, you can get some good ideas about HP from a couple of articles in Hot Rod magazine. The May and June 2009 issues have the "Cheap 350-390HP for just over $2600". They used the GM Vortec heads and had good results. Might be worth checking it out. I was going in that direction until I decided to build a 383 stroker instead.
