Default C4 ac blower fan on 71 c3

I would like to get more air flow from my 71 AC system. From reading other posts sounds like using the fan from the C4's will increase air flow. The C3 and C4 blower motors turn at the same RPM so changing the motor isn't an improvement.

Will all C4 blower fans (not motor, just the fan) fit on a 71 ac blower motor? Are any modifications required?

Thanks,

Roger

It did on my "77. Installation required a spacer (approx 3/4 inch because the C4 fan is longer. It certainly did blow harder.

If anyone is interested, this is for sale - I am in the process of installing a Vintage Air system, adapting the 68 to 76 kit to work in the changed 77 dash.

I am thinking of installing a c4 fan in my 76. Send me a price on your fan and spacer.
Thanks,
Bill

Anyone making the spacer? Seems like putting a C4 fan in you C3 is a no brainer. Seems like someone should be making this spacer!! I think you need 3/4 inch. Should be made of a non-thermal conducting material: nylon, phenolic, ...maybe even wood!

I'm still not clear on if this needs to be a motor change or if the fan cage can be the only change. Other than the spacer added.

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks. I am ordering a fan later this week.

You get the motor and fan together, make a 3/4" spacer out of MDF, paint it with epoxy and pit it back in the hole. The vent tube will require some mods but its an easy one.

Heres the templet I made for mine.. this paper one I made fits perfect but I noticed the copy I printed changed size a little. if the blower wheel just clears the center hole, it will fit right.

How did you modify the vent tube? I haven't figured this one out yet.
