One of the 'tricks' to making that a fairly simple task is to use a small chisel or tip of a large screwdriver as a "wedge" to spread the clamp/locking ring on that valve, once you remove the locking bolt. That will take all of the clamping force off of the valve so that you can just unscrew it from the steering link by hand. Count the number of turns when you remove it so that you can install it in the same place when done. Also, buy a the needed hydraulic line wrenchs to remove the hose fitting nuts. If you don't get 6-point high quality 'hydraulic line' wrenchs, you will round off the nuts and make your task much more difficult. And if you buy 'junk' wrenchs at the local parts store, they will just spread apart under load and do the same thing. Craftsman, Snap-On, Matco, etc. brand name wrenchs is a must have for that job.

I would STRONGLY advise against a pickle fork and instead buying the large puller that is available at the normal Autozone type stores. Hammering on that thing whangs your whole front suspension and steering box, which can't be good (and in the case of the one I did last year, didn't work either). There was quite an impressive sound when that puller finally pulled that tapered pin off... WHACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
