Small pin hole leak in oil pan
No sooner did I say I was completely satisfied with the car did I find a small puddle under it when I woke up. I knew I shouldn't of said that
Anyway I was trying to fnd the source of the problem and I wiped the oil pan off hoping it wasn't a main seal. I saw it develop some drops on the bottom of the pan with the motor running and I wiped it off again to see exactly where it was coming from and it starts about half way down the pan on one side it looks like a pin hole that drips a very small amount. Must have rusted thru.
Anyone know how to fix this before I get a new pan ?

Two part ribbon epoxy will stop the leak.
You must drain the oil pan and or jack the car up in such a way that the oil will not be leaking from the hole while the epoxy cures. PREP the surrounding surface really well and apply the epoxy putty. This will permanently stop the leak.

Replace the oil pan it is rotten. Most oil pans rot from the inside, due to all the moisture and the acids. This is usualy caused by running the engine with no stat or a 160 stat. The lowest stat you can run a street engine is with a 180 or even better with a 195.

Get yourself a self-tapping stainless sheet metal screw, put an o-ring on it (or make a cork gasket) and screw it in. Will work the same as your drain plug.

I have not heard of this before but the epoxy fix seems reasonable. But that twigged a question: if I were in the same predicament could I go to a local auto parts store and just ask for a pan for a 1979 350 engine? Would it fit? Or is the Corvette pan different?

Anyway I put a small amount of Permatex #4 on it and it seems to have stopped it, that stuff is hard enough to get off your hands it has to be good for something :D
