Just bought a new engine wire harness for my 71 the old harness was spliced so many times and wires turned colors as they ran from one location to another. There was a jump wire run to a resistor then to the coil. I know this car doesn't have a resistor. Different wires to the starter so any info or pics from original wire harness would really help.

who did you get your harness from and do you have a picture of the wires your wondering about? someone else may have used the same harness.

Hi Gv,
The 71 AIM shows 3 terminals/ connections on the starter solenoid:
S terminal #12 gauge purple.
R terminal #12 gauge yellow.
B terminal #2 gauge black (from battery) and #12 gauge red.

my aftermarket harness 'painless' had different colors but they were marked right, thought he might have gotten one similar.
