I'm installing a intank fuel pump and sending unit into my 81 vette. Has anyone done this and could share how they wired it up so the fuel gauge operated. I am using a 82 fuel sending unit which has three wires. One is a black/white which I think is the power to both the fuel pump and the sending unit, a purple which goes to the fuel guage and a gray which is the ground. Am I corect in my thinking?

Try your combination for the fuel sender, with a digital ohm meter on the output. Move the fue float through its arc and see if the meter varies (it should go from 90 - full tank - down).

If it does, you've got it. If not, try other combinations.
