Replacing body mount shims

Replacing body mount shims
I've just placed the body back on my '74 coup. The old frame was so rusty I couldn't tell how many shims were placed with each mount and I'm putting the body on a different frame. How do I know how many shims to put with each mount? Based on door or panel alignment? Or??? There's no info in the shop or assembly manual. Thanks for any your input.......

Hi s200,
I believe it's a good idea to put 3 shims at each location then set the body.
You can then add or removes shims as required to get the door gaps the way you want them.
On a coupe body with a front clip thats properly bonded to the cowl the shims don't have much effect on gaps.
So I'd mostly look to see the body seems to be level on the frame.

Alan
