Fan belt on BB question
I have a 505 stroker in my 70 with AFR heads and built valvetrain including stud girdles. So that requires tall valve covers and moves my alternator over some requiring a 56" fan belt. No power accessories. Redline is 7400 and that throws off fan belt even with all deep groove pulleys and a .69" x 32 deg belt. Don't want to switch to serpentine. Anybody have an idea on some fix ? A tensionor or ???

Had the same problem with a 498 in a drag car that is seeing 7500 rpm. I used to throw the alternator belt every pass. After switching to a Moroso 64800 5" dia alternator pulley and a Gates Powerated v belt I haven't thrown a belt. They are green belts that are made for mowers but won't stretch like a normal v belt.

You can try those belts with less stretch. But, if that doesn't work, you will likely need 1 or 2 idler wheels on the long {unsupported} run of that belt or some 'guide-shoes' for the backside of the belt in those unsupported areas. For that high RPM stuff, idler wheels would be best.
