Only one way will the shaft fit flush with the frame. The "bulge' between the holes is away from the frame.

Thanks Big G, that's what I thought but there is a bulge on both sides where the single bolt goes the rear facing end of the shaft. That does not allow the shaft to rest flat against the frame?

Dont worry about the single hole end..only the double hole end.

If you closely compare the two sides (top & bottom), you'll see that one side has a raised area (feet?) around the bolt-holes. The side with the raised bolt holes goes against the frame.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I am installing the lower control arm shaft and am confused as to which way the end with 2 holes goes on. Can someone post a pic? The 2 responses above seem to contradict one another and I cannot see it in AIM. 1970 coupe SB....

If you look at the shaft only one way will allow the area around the two bolts to sit flat against the frame, the other way it would leave a gap and need washers or spacers around the bolts

Hi kjr,
I'm thinking the same as Mooser.
The shaft needs to be turned to it sits flush and tight against the crossmember's surface when the bolts are tightened.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks guys!!! The confusing part is that one way the shaft will lay flush on the crossmember the entire length of the shaft. If its installed with the bolt holes flush to the crossmember then the shaft does not actually touch the crossmember the entire length of the shaft....

It's only the area around the bolts that needs to sit flat, the remaining bar in between might even have some clearance to the frame
