The problem sounded familiar ...
Gas with >10% ethanol needs something 90 octane or better to flush it. The ethanol evaporates relatively quickly but the other addatives used to blend the gas, like to gum things up or destroy anything non-metal.
My solution for clearing the carb without a teardown was to use alot of ether after draining the gas tank and putting mid grade in it. I ended up using about a 1/4 can of pure ether "starting fluid" while cranking to get it clean enough for my liking.
A carb rebuild would be your best bet. The method I used can be dangerous and I dont plan on keeping this carb long enough to see the long term effects (if any).

My Carb literally had a clear jelly type substance filling up my float bowls.
Also check your fuel filter....if its plugged you will have the same issues... if you bypassed it? Well the Carb needs to be cleaned out.
