i just took mine to 140mph for a mile or so but air started to lift front end and i am not going to put a air foil in front however no spare tire carrier definitely helps the air out the rear thru vents.car was well planted in rear.1971 convertible with top down.

you guys are brave. all I do while driving fast is think "if something ever happened right now..." and then I get visions of fiberglass, metal and my body parts scattered across the highway.

I have had mine only up to about 95, but I had an '84 Trans-Am that has seen 167 a few times. Had the 85mph speedo, I calculated 167 from gear ratio, tire diameter and RPM.

i cannot call it brave more of a controlled condition two lanes north and two lanes south with 100' divider .i put the car on the dotted line and put the hammer down but like i said air gets under front end and you begin to lose steering at 140 mph so you just take your foot off pedal and regain control then you go to posted exit "20mph" it is a wide 180 degree turn so i took it faster and faster till i had it right at 70mph.anyways i don`t want to ramble on but just to let you know what the c-3 69 to 72 is capable of.my speedo is a 160mph but you definitely need a front air fold to keep her on the ground.

It squatted and the front lifted and stayed lifted all the way down to the end. Not sure about mine but it feels like the front is staying down at 120mph in the 1/4 mile but I am not sure. You need to put a chin spoiler like the 78-79's have to keep the front from lifting

What is even more special , is if you have an 85 MPH speed that has the 55 mph hash mark highlighted in red or white or some different color from the rest of the numbers.

Burning Brakes
On September 1, 1979, in a regulation that also regulated speedometer and odometer accuracy, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) required speedometers to have special emphasis on the number 55 and a maximum speed of 85 mph (135 km/h). However, on October 22, 1981, NHTSA proposed eliminating speedometer and odometer rules because they were "unlikely to yield significant safety benefits" and "[a] highlighted '55' on a speedometer scale adds little to the information provided to the driver by a roadside speed limit sign."
