Default TCI vs Hughes Vs B&M

Hi folks,
Getting tired of trans issues and am thinking of getting a replacement from Sunnit. Anybody have thoughts on the relative merits of these companies? They all seem to offer mildly upgraded transmissions that are pretty comparable,

As always, I appreciate your thoughts,

Brian

FWIW, TCI in one form or another has been building automatic transmission for high-perf and racing applications (including all the way up to Top Alcohol Dragster) since the '60's, when they were already serious movers and shakers in the industry.

FWIW, I put a B&M in my stock 76 pickup in the 80's. It lasted 6 months.
Of course it could have been a fluke, or they may be better now, but the bad taste lingers to this day.

If you are interested in a TH700R4 you can buy a core for around $350 and rebuild it yourself using heavy duty parts. When paired with 3.73's a TH700R4 is one of the best swaps going as it'll give you blazing acceleration and better fuel mileage. A win/win combination.

B&M made a name for themselves back in the early 60's ,and have been riding on it ever since.I know of no racers using there stuff but I'm sure someone does.
ATI in Baltimore has an excellent reputation, Jim Sr recently (who I knew for years) passed away but Jim Jr is a good guy. FTI built me a convertor recently and their service is impeccable, you can't go wrong with either one of those. Buying direct will enable you to get a trans built for your car and not a suggested serving like on a frozen dinner box.

I would find a local guy who knows his stuff and let him build it.If something does go wrong that is far easier to have it fixed.Ask me how I know.

When I went looking to get my original TH350 rebuilt locally the prices were well above $1000 about 4 years ago. That's just a stock rebuild, no shift kit no reinforced sprag or high quality clutches.
I ordered a B&M Th350 with a shift kit and rated for 500HP from Amazon for $800 delivered.
Have not had any issues with it at all. 7000ish miles so far. 400 or so HP to it for the last two years stock HP for the first two.

I bought a TCI Street Fighter TH350 in 2005. Kept in box that it was shipped in and installed it in 2009. No issues even after 4+ years of storage.

Anyone here ever use a trans done by "monster"? I love the idea of no questions asked return policy.

I agree. That is what I did with my TH400 early in July. Complete rebuild. Free inspection for leaks/possible shifter adjustment after 500km (300 miles), free inspection in the coming spring after five months of winter, and a 20,000km (12,000 mile) warranty. Local shop with a lot of expertise and a record of service to the community (kids' sports teams, etc.). No shipping charges. Endorsed by several new car dealers. And just 15 minutes away.

Wouldn't the ultra low 1st gear on that 700r4 be a little low with those 3:73's? I'm running a 4l60e and took the 3:08's out and went with 3:73's. First gear is akin to granny gear of my old 74 Chevy Truck. Looking back, I now wish I'd have went with somewhere around 3:42-3:50"s. Wouldn't swear by it, but I think those two transmissions share the same 1st gear ratio. Might be worth some research.

700r4 and 373s is a monster out of the hole if you can get it to hook and shifting to second gear comes very quickly.
