Default Harmonic Balancer 454 1970

We refitting the harmonic balancer should I put sealant/oil/grease on the shaft.

On the outer surface of the machined surface of the balancer....YES..I apply a light coat of grease to aid the seal.

I put nothing on the end of the crankshaft.

Harbor Freight sells a 25 dollar installation tool. Buy it. You dont want to hammer that thing on or try and draw it down with the crank nut.

Thanks for the tips, your'e quite right this is the way to do an installer and not brute force and its a easy job, which took minutes, I just put a light skim of grease on the balancer.
