They are correct
The long brass ones go through the wiring harness - when you plug it in it locates the switch correctly.

I don't have the pass thru. I am missing that switch all that was there were the contact points. I did clean up the other one works fine. I bought this switch probably 10 years ago I think from Willcox. Maybe C C

If the pcb moves in and out it'll cause the switch to be loose. The issue with the old reproduction switches is that plate would be loose and then you don't have enough tension on the contacts to the button. I've actually taken the reproductions apart and bent the contact arms to tighten them up... just like rebuilding the original switch.
On your switch, just clip that extra portion off.
