1972 wiring harness. Wiper pump wires? Help.
I'm dealing with replacing a severly hacked original wiring harness. I have two wires on my new harness that I think are wiper pump. However I can figure out how they connect. Somethings not adding up. Pump has blades. Can someone help me here?
Thanks in advance. No comments on the thumb. 😉

Someone probably went to a newer washer pump.

I just went through the same thing last week on my 74. I had the barrel butt connectors and went i bought the new pump it had spade connectors. it came with a universal wire pigtail that had two individial female connectors to plug into the washer pump. but i shelled out for a conversion connector so the part that went into the washer pump was one piece and the other end had to female barrel connectors. the whole piece is maybe 4 inches long.

Hi D,
Here's a 71 wiper motor and washer pump.
It's quite similar to what was on your 72 originally.
You can see the single yellow and blue barrel connectors and the 3 wire connector.
Regards,
Alan

Hi D,
The harness follows the depression in the firewall so it dips below the wiper motor.
There are several large cilps that hold the harness snug against the surface of the firewall as it travels across.
Hopefully yours are there to give you some guidance.
Do you have an AIM for your car? That would be some help too.
Regards,
Alan

In 1975 GM went to a different pump mounted in the bottle and sometime around the 1980's the replaced the barrell connector with a spade (and all the aftermarket manufacturers followed suit).
Here is the reproduction.

Original style bullet connector Washer pump.
Original wire routing on my 72.
And here is the picture from the AIM.. it's not very good though.

Thanks guys. I'll check it out. I do have an AIM but since I'm new to Vettes I wanted to ask. But as stated it is a bit hard to read. But it does appear that the harness is in front of the motor. Also, we all know the workers didn't follow the manual 100%. Thank you for the guidance.

Hi D,
I agree that the AIM can be difficult to understand at times.
The reason I mention it is that I still believe it can be a reliable reference.
The harness was run the same way on each car.
If it weren't, the various wires that come out of the harness (like those for the wiper motor) wouldn't be in the correct place and be the proper length to meet their connections.
Good Luck!
