Funny hidden item on 77e vette inside body mount #3
Hey guys....
Currently im working on multiple items on my vette. one of them is the body mounts. Yesterday i was spraying liquid wrench on all the body mounts. I took of the access panel off on body mount #3 in front of the rear tire (passenger side) & i found inside was a gray sponge and an old bottle of "vaseline baby oil (new)"
Why & for what somebody put that there i can only imagine
Enjoy the picture...... (I washed the bottle to see the old lable better) hahahahaha lololol. 😆😆😅😅😄😄😂😂😃✌🏼️✌🏼

LOL.......that's a good one!
You just reminded me of that occasional rattle of 10 years in the right quarterpanel of my '69 Camaro convertible......it was an empty 6 0z. glass Coca Cola bottle!

The first UPC (bar) codes appeared in 1974. You can use the presence or absence of such to get an idea of the age. I seem to remember people using baby oil on tires before the dedicated products appears. Frankly it wouldn't surprise me if those modern products are essentially baby oil

I had a friend years ago that thought it would be funny to switch a couple plug wires on my fresh engine. That winter he was finishing up his chevelle. So I took a steel ball bearing half the size of a person's fist and a wad of grease and put it in his passenger door. All winter it never moved, when the weather got hot the grease melted and the ball started rolling.you never know what you will find in a car.
Another friend bought a new pace car in 79,and the car stunk, bad.the dealer replaced the interior and it still stunk.when I went through the car I found a burger King whaler sandwich in the battery box.

Hi h,
I agree with MCM
I believe there were typically 3 pieces in each lock pillar, each a different shape. UPC 1 Bolt/Weld, Sheet B9 in the 71 AIM.
The one you found was located just below the striker bolt nut's cage.
Regards,
Alan
Perhaps the oil was used to help slip it into position?!?
