Fast idle seleniod
Quadra Jet with electric choke. IIRC it came out of a non AC truck so it does not have the selenoid to kick the idle up with the AC. Is this a simple retrofit plus some wiring to control it or a major modification. Making my winter project list, tired of idling at 10-1200 so the engine doesn't stall when the ac is turned on.

There are two different mounting brackets, one for early carbs beginning with 70 a one for carbs beginning with 170. Both are easy to install and most are wired to the compressor.

I think someone told me this was a carb out of an 82 truck. Wiring to the AC won't be problem. Here are pics of the carb. I know the engine is dirty....another winter project.

Fab up your own bracket or get one out of a junk yard, you can see from the pic posted by peterbuilt how it should look.

Ken, use a solenoid for a late 70s Q-Jet. They're designed to use the two bosses just above and forward of the primary throttle bracket.
This is an older picture(before I rebuilt my very first Q-Jet!), but shows what you should see:

That's an '84 truck carb. Your carb requires the idle solenoid that bolts to the driver’s side of the carb. There is an earlier version that snaps and locks onto a casting nub on the forward side of the carb, but you cannot use that version. Here are photos of 2 different solenoids that both would work on your carb:
This one is a later-model style, identified by the Torx screws and the short solenoid:
This one is the more common earlier version that would have been used on a Corvette. Note the slotted head screws and the longer solenoid:

If you decide to go new here are some part numbers. Some are long body solenoids some are short. I have used both on my car and both work. Make sure you get the correct mounting screws.
Tomco 8132 (Long)
Carter 213-157 (Long)
Standard Motor Products ES110 (Short)
ACdelco 2142138 (Short)
ACdelco 19190917 (Short)
If you do a e-bay search using 1997461 other manufacture part numbers are also correct.
