I am not familiar with the term "restaurant car". What does that mean?

Hi,
The oil fill tube in the intake manifold makes me think 327, not 350.
For this car that doesn't really make any real difference at this point but makes me wonder about just what the rest of the car is.
If it runs and drives well, isn't rusty, and the paint and interior are as nice in person as in the pictures, it might be a good car for someone…. maybe just a couple thousand dollars too much for as modified as it is.
Regards,
Alan

I agree with Alan. And 350 or not, the seller readily admits its an NOM, which is whats holding the price back. I think his asking price is all the money.

Wondering how long that fresh orange on the intake holds up if its unmodified. I think he could have put the black paint spray can down a little sooner, too.

I could be wrong, but it has always been my impression that a restaurant car is a non-daily driver...a nice car driven only on special occasions like taking the wife out to a restaurant.

Many times the short block is switched out and the 327 type oil tube manifold stays with the car. I see this often. It could be a 350.

Could be a decent deal for someone. Looks pretty.

Hi e427,
I was actually thinking maybe it had been a 327/350 and that's where the 350 number had come from?!?!

Alan

Could be, maybe. Could be anything in there. It will make a nice driver, don't have to worry about keeping it too original and it looks nice. Resale red, grabs me every time. If I get another Vette, red is high on the list.

What I dislike most is the flex radiator hose. Silly thing, just bugs me.

Hi Ed,
Yes I understand about the flex hoses.
I feel pretty much the same way about fuel-pump to carb rubber hoses!

Thanks, I learn something new every day. Of course, I'm starting at zero.

I'd like to add......
The person who buys this car would be buying it strictly for the vette thing.
They are not worried about going backwards and undoing what has been done to make it an NCRS candidate.
The seller has had fun with it and has decided to move on for whatever reason.
A good paint job is going to cost ya 10 grand.
If it is as nice in person as in the pics then that's a plus.
If the motor has been rebuilt properly and thee AC works nicely
again points.
An NOM car purchased for like 12 grand can easily exceed 22 k
bringing it to the level as shown in the pics.
I thought about an NOM 454 convertible Chevelle fo the longest time before I found my 68 427.
The 350 may as has been already suggested be a newer top end only.
My 427 has all the upper orig. parts replaced on a CE block?
Got to love having a 5yr 50k warranty.
I am not concerned as long as I turn the key and it starts.
I crossed over as many of you may remember as I have shared before from the classic motorcycle and military collectors realm.
Same thing over there. There is a vehicle for all enthusiasts.
Some are blessed to be able to spend 80k on a 67 BB.
I think with spring lurking around the corner it will go just maybe
in the 19-20k range.

Probably just for going out in
Looks very clean...not a big fan of rattle can restos but if the work is done clean enough (good prep), new hardware and wasnt used to cover up no big deal. Nothing looks worse than someone who painted over grease rust etc
