I'm new to Nitrous
Im not exactly sure how it works or what certain ratings means.
I'm looking at this one from Advance Auto Parts: link
in the description, it says you can adjust from 150 to 250 horsepower. Does that mean that kit can actually add 150-250 horsepower? how long does nitrous last? What do you have to do to activate it?

Yes, it will ADD 150HP. Normally the nitrous is triggered by a switch that is made when you are at full throttle, but it can be a button on your shifter or whatever.
Here's a rule of thumb.
25 Shot - 1lb of Nitrous per Minute - .017lb Nitrous Per Second
50 Shot - 2lb per Minute - .033lb Per Second
100 Shot - 4lb per Minute - .067lb Per Second
200 Shot - 8lb per Minute - .13lb per Second
300 Shot - 12lb Per Minute - .20lb per Second
400 Shot - 16lb Per Minute - .27lb Per Second
500 Shot - 20lb Per Minute - .33lb Per Second
I am an advocate of NOS, but please learn all you can before using it. Then you will know why it works and how it works and you won't be another one of those guys saying that NOS will just blow up your engine.
Good luck

Please don't do nitrous. I did and yeah it's quick and easy.
There are lots of drawbacks...the biggest of which is you will lose power as the bottle empties. This is the cAse even if you are using a bottle heater to spray at the same psi.
I want to be crystal clear on this: if you fill up your 10 lb bottle and spray.at 1000 psi...you will get a bigger hit then if you spray some time later with 5 lbs remaining (even if you used a bottle heater to get up to 1000 psi again). Has something to do with there being less liquid nitrous available to flash into gaseous for.m with less remaining in the bottle.
Is there a way around this? A bigger 20 lb bottle maybe? I dunno.
When I nail it on my supercharged car (first off it's making more power vs nitrous) which is nice...there is never this issue. It's full throttle all day long
But back to the diminishing nitrous bottle issue...Could you imagine how annoying it'd be if your car made less power on a quarter tank of gasoline vs. a full? Well that's how it is with nitrous. And I had fhe best of the best, an NX kit. Which is the one I'd recommend you go with if you do go nitrous.
Next. Do some searches in this forum and compRe my same motor supercharged dyno vs nitrous. With nitrous it hits hard and drops torque fast as you get towards redline. The supercharger )or turbo) maintains this TQ as rpm rises.
If you must do nitrous. Be sure to run a window switch and also put in a walbro 255 l/hr pump with racetronix Hotwire kit as insurancE.
A few guys had no problems at 100 hp shot, but detonated at 150 shot and blew ring lands. The issue I believe was their stock fuel pump couldn't keep up at 150 shot . These were 'wet ' kits also. These guys had stock in tank fuel pumps
My same 80k miles stock 93 lt1 bottom end that I sprayed 100 shot nitrous on is now making 520 RWHP on boost/ meth injection with no signs of issues.
Good luck

In nj, to drive with n2o in your car you need hazmat documentation. Back when I raced nitrous guys had lockers at the track they kept their bottles in. Seemed to much of a hassle to me so I stayed with supercharger.

Here in OZ its illegal to have nitrous oxide connected, the Police love issuing fines. I used to use NOS its a rush but expensive to refill.
It is addictive, changing jets and pushing your luck.
I went to a blower, great to have more h/p at lower rpm without being a police magnet.
If you want the performance of NOS occasionally go for it.
If you want to use it every day A performance engine build or forced induction will be the way to go.
Go talk to blowerworks

I had one of those n2o bass tubes they sold with the subwoofer in the early 2000s. Spent an hour with police searching my car swearing I had nitrous
