Default 85 fuel filter location

Exactly where is the fuel filter located in a 85 corvette? How easy is it to replace and any hints on replacement, pictures would help a novice.

Passenger side inside the frame rail, that's under the car, about where the door hinges. Do a search to find multiple comments on how to and how not to.

When I changed mine, the gas never stopped flowing out of the fuel line. I had to take it off and put a new one back on with gas splashing me in the face. I disconnected the FP relay, opened the gas tank cap, and released pressure on the fuel rail, but the weight of the gas will still push it through the fuel rail.

Be careful, if you could do it with less gas in the tank, i'm guessing it would come out slower or you could run it dry and not have to worry about turning yourself into a gas can.

It might be a good idea to jack the front of the car up when removing the filter. It helped me when I removed the fuel rail.

The next time I do mine I will remove the fuel door and pull the rubber boot and pinch off the lines. I would rather do that then have gas running every where. It's a messy job but an easy one. Relieve as much pressure as you can you might get lucky and not have much spillage. Just the gravity pulls fuel down the line, It's not good for the pump to let it run dry.

Relieve the fuel pressure then remove the hoses where they exit the tank...do both hoses...when you disconnect the fuel filter, have a small container to catch what's left in the line...then you'll have no problem...with leaking fuel anyway

It's easy to remove the fuel filter on a '85 (had no problems when I had mine). My '93, that's another story....
