Ebay might have to get the whole thing. If you can live without the heat just replace the glass never used mine

I picked up a NOS, LH 88-96 heated mirror, P/N 12522265, on fleabay last year. I took a chance for use on my 85, and it went in without any problems, so not sure what the differences are between early/late - maybe LH is heated and RH is non-heated, maybe different graphics or something - who knows??? there is a NOS, LH on fleabay now from jim butler Chevrolet - not cheap though. I'm thinking the 88-96 LH, heated mirror glass is the only remaining C4 mirror part currently available from the general. hope this helps....

You can also ask in the C4 Parts for Sale section.

"WTB heated (add side) mirror for (add year)" and maybe color.
You may be able to buy the whole assembly at a good price.

I purchased a whole assembly last year for around $30 to $35. Your results may vary.

yeah, the results WILL vary! I went that route, and what I got was pretty much junk. the internal, three-sided mounting bracket was broken, and the mirror glass wasn't in the best of shape either. i cannibalized the thing and was only able to use the small motor assembly. between the housing bracket from my original, and the NOS mirror glass, I was able to assemble a pretty decent drivers door mirror assembly. best part, by using my original housing, I didn't have to paint anything, and with the new mirror, everything's looking good. one tip, the three self tapping screws that holds the bracket to the housing - use thread locker on those screws. I had one missing, and one loose.

If you have no motor problems, the vertical and horizontal jacks are good, the black mounting base and the mirror is all good I'd use what you have and reattach the glass to the base. You need to be careful with the choice of attaching compounds as some will remove the silvering/reflective backing on the glass.

Forget the HEATED - it wasn't particularly effective anyway. The eBay offering is correct for your car BUT then there's the shipping.

If you're dead set on heated look into the Burco Redi-Heat mats and use them in some fashion. You would likely need to get creative for the terminations though. Doable? Maybe

if anyone has tried to separate the glass(mirror) from the mounting base, well all I can say is good luck - it's easier said than done. since the general sells the heated mirror as a sub-assembly - most likely, because it's the "lowest replaceable unit." not saying it can't be done, but when I did it, it turned into a major cluster f***. my backing was broken where the trunnion attaches, so mine was just a learning experience. one thing I might add - before doing anything, I'd first check the continuity of the hearing element wiring as referenced in the FSM. it's a simple resistive heating element, so it might be just a simple electrical fix.

instead of trying to marry up some 3rd party parts, it might be more cost effective (time and materials) to just bite the bullet and get the correct factory parts. the cost difference, if any, may not be worth the trouble - JMHO

BTW the fleabay listing is listed as free shipping, but I'm guessing that's for the continental US.

I have checked all the wiring and it all works fine

I would love to buy Gm products
But have tried everone I can find on the net to no avail

If someone has a contact please let me no

I seperate the mirror from the housing by
Soaking the mirror in laquire thinners
So no damage to any parts
Just the hearjng element

Thanks Dale

The same mirror was used on Camaros and Firebirds, so that might expand your options.

Cliff - I don't really believe that's so. They're very similar in appearance but I don't believe a direct-swap.

What years did you have in mind? I don't believe that "heat" was an option for the F-body so the OP is still not accomplished anything. I believe that some have used the Corvette "heated" in the F-body (maybe) and I did see where it was mentioned that the Corvette heated would swap into the Fiero housing.

If a person was in the US and could do some JY maybe and check but the OP is in AU. Might be real tough to try.
