Dropped this question on the C5 forums......What old car did you hate getting rid of? Mine was a 64 Impala SS 4 speed....Ate more oil than gas, But I couldn't blow up the ol" 327....just kept ticking...Yes bought a C5 for a week. I'll stick to my C4's.....$200 to the good for the C5....Hope the kid shows some sense.....

I have been lucky enough to have had a lot of cars and most of them muscle cars or special interest. The ones I liked the most and kept the longest were the '64 GTO (9 years), '68 Firebird (6 years), '68 442 (8 years), '71 Trans Am (7 years), '85 Corvette (25 years). The more memorable ones I owned are listed below.

1965 Impala SS (several motors)
1966 442 4 spd
1968 GTO 4 spd
1968 442 4 spd (several motors up to a 70 W30 & a SD 421 pontiac)
1968 Firebird 400 4 spd (several motors up to a 462)
1969 Firebird 400 Auto (several motors up to a 462)

1971 Trans Am 4 spd 455 HO (white w/ blue stripe)
1977 Trans Am

1995 Caprice 9C1 (LT1)
1996 Caprice (LT1)
1996 Impala SS
1996 Z28 6 speed
1998 S10 ZQ8

2006 Charger R/T

Corvettes

Winter and heater bring back another memory that I'm still trying to forget of my '64 Corvair. Mine had leaking pushrod tube o-rings. When that happens the oil lands on the exhaust manifolds and smokes..... a lot ! ! ! The heater blows air over the exhaust manifolds and into the car for heat. So in the winter the heater would pump smoke into the car. I can remember a below zero night when I had to have the windows open on a ride home late (about 2am). To make matters worse, someone came up next to me at a stop light and told me my car was on fire. (It wasn't, just the normal smoke)

The one I miss the most is the '65 GTO. It was a ragtop, 4-speed, Tri-Power car, with rally gauges.

I also miss the '60 Coupe DeVille (can you say, "Fins," boys and girls?). And the '66 Impala SS ragtop 327. And the '64 Sedan DeVille. And my old '67 Chevy Van that had a 350 in it.

But I miss that GTO most of all.

Live well,

SJW

None. I still have them, but lust after a few that my uncles owned.

Okay, the red '63 split-window is ONE! (maybe the Silver Ann.)

Major regret, but had no choice but to sell it at the time:

71 Camaro, 427, blown...torque monster

1958 MGA bought it for $300 sold it for $900 after getting it running and looking good. Wanted to buy it back after I found it again thirty some years latter. Still low miles but the price was a bit to high to say the least.

'86 Monte Carlo. When I bought it,it had the 305,aod and a 2.56 open rearend. When I sold it, it had a '67 427 tri-power, m-22 4sp and 12 bolt posi with 3.73 gears. I don't know how fast she ran at the track, but I won a whole lotta street races with it.

1st car - 1962 Cutlass convertible; 6th car - 1969 MGB, succumbed to terminal rust from Michigan winters, but still the standard by which all other cars are judged; 8th car - 1979 Rx7, the poor man's Porsche; 11th car - 1998 Mustang convertible.

The next Corvette will be a C6 roadster.
