Default Stereo whine noise?

So I replaced my HU in my 88' and everything works but I get whine noise when the key is turned to start the car. I directly grounding the HU but that didn't solve the problem. Music sounds great when turned up over the whine noise but when music is down...whine is still there. The Bose speakers are still connected as well...could a bad amp be the cause of the noise? Any suggestions would be great..thanks!

If the noise is only present when the engine is running and rises and falls with engine RPM you can try a ground loop isolator on the 12v power wires to the radio.

It's your alternator that is creating it, you need to ground the unit better.

The noise is present when the ignition is turned on and doesn't rise and fall with engine RPM. I was thinking that this was the result of aftermarket HU with stock Bose speakers...possible?

Going to ground unit directly and see if that helps. Thanks!

Did you install an aftermarket amp? If so, check the grounding of it, and use good quality rca jacks. I had the same issue, adjusted the gain on the amp lower, changed out the jacks, and while it's still not pristine, it's good!!
