Default My Magnaflow Review (long)

Purchasing- Bought from HottExhaust.com for $307. Anyone can purchase these mufflers if they search the site for the part number 15623 and enter the coupon code vetteforum. After I hadn’t received a shipping confirmation after 3 days I sent an email to check the status but when I got home they were already on my doorstep. Shipping was much faster then expected. Packing was very good and everything looked great.

**UPDATE** Hottexhaust.com has changed the coupon discount to be a minimum of $350. You can no longer buy the Magnaflow Mufflers for the LT1 for $307. This sucks that they did that

**UPDATE #2** Hottexhaust.com raised their price on the L98 system from $406 to $460. Losers

Installation- My local exhaust shop installed these, total came to $47. I left a note that the brackets might need to be adjusted slightly if they hang too low.

Exhaust Note- I was pleasantly surprised by the tone of the mufflers. They have a much DEEPER tone than anything I could’ve expected. Others were also surprised at how low the tone is. I was very worried about having a Tin high-pitched sound which I’ve heard from a Borla Stinger setup on a C5. The Deep tone carries all the way throughout the RPM band sounding deep even at WOT. In comparison to my dad’s 77 L82 without mufflers, his is still louder but mine sounds deeper.

Loudness- I was worried that they wouldn’t be loud enough but they definitely are. I wouldn't want any louder or any quieter. The sound level is perfect compared to the stock system which is way too quiet IMO.

Resonance- I was eagerly anticipating the famous resonance that was going to make me rip my mufflers off and beat my car with them. It never really showed up. I can hear the exhaust sound plenty in the car but I couldn’t be happier with it. I would rather listen to my exhaust then the radio, it sounds awesome. I might be desensitized by loud sounds because of the subwoofers in my daily driver, but it didn’t bother me a bit. I'e gone on a 300 mile trip and the sound didn’t bother me.

I give these mufflers 10 out of 10. They are one of the cheapest exhaust mods you can do, and I would buy them again even if they were 2x the cost.

EDIT- I forgot to mention that I will be adding before and after sound clips soon :)

 Looking forward to the sound clips. I pulled my cat on saturday and I am very happy with the results. Mind you I only have super turbos with stock tips, but they do sound good :D

I did notice moderate pickup when flooring it from a stop, and @ WOT at approx 75MPH seemed to hit 100MPH *much* quicker. Overall I'm not sure how much you can FEEL 10-15 HP but I definitly felt something.

Before the Magnaflows the car was 100% stock except for the gold skull License plate, dont think I can count that as a mod though :jester

Yes, I didnt do a dyno before or after, but it spins the wheels more when I launch from take off.

:iagree:

I actually waited until Red90Coupe installed his and posted his impressions on the Forum. Then I ordered mine (Performance Peddler through e-Bay). The sound and look are great. Now if I could just find a way to keep my black car from showing every speck of anything out there..........

Sounds great.

I just went to the site and it came up $349 with the coupon - but free shipping. Is that the deal you got?

Thanks!

I also have Magnaflow. I chose the Mags because it was my perception that they were top performers. The only place you will see a performance gain is probably in the higher RPMs around 3000+ I am guessing... it could be more before you see or feel an improvement. You can actually feel it there, but to me, I was expecing more in performance. Putting on the X-pipe gave me more performance than the Magnaflows. At least, in terms of feel from testing and track performance. Not to put down Magnaflow... I was one of the first proponents of them on this board.

I just checked it out, they must have changed it
It has been $308 every time I checked. I guess they must have been losing money and just caught it or something. Ah well, sorry that they raised the price guys, still a good deal @ $350 but that still sucks that they did that

I noticed a bit more hussle after I got mine installed. I did get my car on the dyno a couple weeks ago. I asked Jason, at MTI, what would be standard numbers for a 95 A4 and he said around 255-260rwhp. Mine came in at 278rwph with my Magnaflows, an open air lid and K&N filter. So that combo has netted me between 18-23 rwhp.
