Default New Toy in the Shop

Well I finally did it!

No more lurking & looking, I bought Robertpel9's ’91 Vette and relocated her from Rhode Island to Texas.

Had a small problem!

In transit it got a couple of light colored oil stains on the top.

I don’t have a large selection of auto stores in the area, and wanted to get the stain out before it got to the point of it being there for ever.

ANY good ideas ! ! !

The car is a gem and my 5 ½ year old grandson & I are looking to have a blast with it.

Welcome to the Forum! You bought a great car! The previous owner was a fanatic about that thing and cared for it like a new bride. Did you have fun on your trip? I use Mother's brand convertible top cleaner on my tan 87's top and although it never had any grease stains it always has done a nice job of keeping it clean. I think I found it at Wal Mart. You could probably pick it up from one of the Corvette parts suppliers too such as Mid America, Corvette Central, Ecklers. Enjoy!

Tom,
Welcome! I am a good friend of Rob's! I have been following your whole purchase story with him! I helped many hours make that car better! We put the rear end in, the new shocks, etc. I set the timing for him. WOW...what a difference that made!

I am going to miss that car! Bob and I had MANY awesome cruises together. I have LOTS of pics of "your" car. I will email them to you if you'd like!

Well, you have come to the right place for answers to any and all questions about your new "baby". Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I'd be glad to help! I know you and your grandson are going to have many good times in that car.

See my car below......we are ALMOST twins!

Good luck,
-Rick

Tom,

Welcome to the forum and the "Grandpa with Vette" club. You've got a great car there. For the spots you got in transit, you might want to post over in the "car care" section.

Default Spot

The best stain remover I have ever used on my vette is GOO GONE. I
use it for ALL stains on the car, inside and out. I am on my second
spray bottle.

Was it you or Robert that dropped the 8" black zippie that scared the #@%$ out of me when I drove it off the transport? SNICKER LOL ;<} Short version: there was a zippie on one of the heat shields and it smelled like burning rubber. I found it when I jacked the car up to check the underside after the 2000 mile trip on a ternsport. There were only minor things on the bottom, and a small oil leak either from the rear main and/or pan gaskett. I would like a picture of the top if you have one that shows the top passenger side. Robert has more than likely told you about the oil spot fron the transport trip. This care is exactly what me and my 5 1/2 year old grandson were looking for. This car is a gem, even with 100K plus on it. I can tell by looking at it, and driving it he/yall took a lot of pride in the car. Thanks...TOM
