Procharged LT1 Update
Many of you may remember my posts as i was going through the process of getting my LT1 supercharged with the P1-Sc ATI procharger and how much of a nightmare it was and the dissapointing results i got....It was in the shop june 14th and my car was not completed until Mid August...The Install consisted of the 42lb injectors and Lt1_edit tuning which was done at J & M Motor sports...the results...334whp/381bs of tq and $7600 invested....There was nothing more he could do for me....
Well maybe some of you remember Greg@Blowerworks posting a tech file about superchargering your car and if you wanted a copy you could have emailed him...So i did...I went on to tell Greg the problems i have had with my Install......
Well Greg emailed me back and told me he would like to take my car on as a project and do a write up as sort of a Tech tip for Car magazine. So the Day before thanks giving i drove my car down to Nj and the process begain.
I will say this...Greg is incrediblly detailed and extremely knowledgeable about supercharging a car. I picked up my car yesterday and i must say i am very happy what with Greg has achieved on my car...The results....370rwhp/402rwtq(Dyno to be posted later)...this was only the first stage of the project... new crane ignition and tuning...The write up will be in Corvette Entheusist Magazine in a few months...
The second stage will be done at a later time and will prove to most likely break me into the 400+rwhp mark...which was my goal all along with the ATI Procharger and will aslo be written up as Stage 2 in the same Magazine
Big props to Greg@ Blowerworks..if only there were more people like him the this business.....

I thought 334whp/381bs seemed pretty darned low. It just goes to show that it pays to know how to tune.
I helped to tune an 86 vette with a procharger. I don't really remember what the peak numbers were, but they were fairy respectable. This car still had the TPI intake, so blower or no it still had the same basic power curve as the TPI. What's impressive about this car was the area under the horsepower curve we were able to pick up. We only gained about 10-15 horses at the peak (4500 RPM), but at 6000 RPM's we were able to pick it up over 100 horsepower. There was still a little bit more in there too but the injectors were pegged, as one might expect since they were still the stock TPI 19#'s

Now that is more like it!!! I have to say that I toyed around with the idea of supercharging my ride... but was discouraged by your original hp numbers. I agreed with you that it wasn't worth the $$$ for such a small power gain. The numbers you are now showing is what I was expecting!!! Props to Greg and congrats on your power gains... it was by far a good investment.

Then shop that installed the supercharger all but guaranteed Scott would get 400 rwhp. So, he may have been misled by the install shop. But, it looks like with the proper tuning, he will be very close to that goal.

I am completly confident that if i had gone and seen Greg(if he was around at the time) from the start $7600 dollars later i would have seen 400+ rwhp after the first time around....and that would have made me extremely happy with0 complaints...
Let this serve as a lesson to others who plan on doing engine mods....PLEASe be sure to go to someone who is thuroughly knowledgeable about the car and the work being done...Or else you will end up like me...but atleast my story will have a happy ending after all..you might not be so lucky

Perhaps you can give us some 'red flags' that, in hindsight, should have warned you away from the original shop? Some clues to help us in our quest for qualified shops...?

When I first tore into my car I wouldn't have had the money to pay somebody else to do it, thus a friend helped me out and we did it in his garage. Ever since then I absolutely refuse to let anybody do any work on my car that I can do myself, which basically means stuff that requires special tools.
There are three things I wouldn't try to do myself
1. Alignment
2. Install New Ring and Pinion
3. Clearance a block for a stroker
I know that most people don't have the time for the facility to do their own work, which really is a shame. You learn so much more by doing it yourself and it ends up being cheaper to boot. You grow more of an attachment to the car as well.

I'm wondering what the baseline was before the supercharger?? Based on the numbers my car did and what LT1vetteguy got, 80hp/100tq for $7600 would have really pissed me off.
Glad to hear you found a straight up guy to help you out!!

Glad to see you’re finally getting some decent #s. It sounds like this guy is really hooking you up and after your last go around I can only imagine you feel better about the work this time and you get a free write up about your car . I started my Stroker about a month after your first post and am glad I went with more cubes rather then forced induction. The 383 put down 383 RWHP /380 TQ with a mail order tune and 414RWHP/ 412RWTQ after the dyno tune. Good luck with stage 2 and keep us up to date. BTW what is stage 2?

Congratulations, luckiest c4 man in the world. To get those performance mods for free is awesome! (after the procharger). If anyone in TX is listening, they can take my 95 all stock (except for K and N filter) LT1 and do whatever...if its free.
