Setting base timing
I need to set the base timng on my 1986 corvette. Anyone have a pic of the wire I need to disconnect prior to setting the base timing

No pic, sorry. If I remember correctly, its a brown wire and the connector is a black cylindrical piece. You push the two connector pieces together and turn 1/4 turn and it will come apart. The connector should be hanging out of the wire loom. It should be the only one that looks like that. I hope that helps, it's all I've got for now. Others will chime in.

You do not have to do this, if you reconnect the wire the check engine light will go off and the code will be cleared after 50 restarts. You can disconnect the battery if you want but I am trying to save you from reprogramming the radio.

It will show an SES light the first time you start the engine, but you will never see it again.
You're better off disconnecting the ECM power connector to reset the error codes. It only goes to the ECM so you don't lose your radio or HVAC settings:
